Fernando Terremoto is without a doubt one of the major figures of the Cante Flamenco today. He was born in 1969 in Jerez de la Frontera and is the son of the legendary “Terremoto de Jerez”.
Notwithstanding the fact that during his childhood, he was mostly devoted to the flamenco guitar, he still made his 1989 debut as Cantaor de Flamenco.
In the early years of his career, he followed the same road as many other flamenco singers: the typical course of performing in Peñas, Concursos and as Cantaor P’atràs with dancing companies.
In 1996 he won the very important contest of the Biennial of Seville. Afterwards, he soon became one of the most popular figures of the flamenco scene.
In 1998 then, he also won that other prestigious Andalusian flamenco contest, namely that of Córdoba.
From then on, his international career started to take shape. He e.g. represented Spain on the 2000 Expo of Hannover.
Fernando Terremoto furthermore is also a highly creative artist. He masters an impressive number of palos or flamenco styles and his compositions are very popular with his fellow artists.
Recently, he was awarded the “Copa Jerez”, a solemn title he was given by the prestigious “Catédra de Flamencologia”. Thanks to this mark of honour, he once and for all enters the hall of fame of flamenco history in Jerez.
Fernando Terremoto now is coming to Northern Europe for a limited tour, together with his permanent guitar player Antonio Higuero.
An occasion which no true Aficionado should miss. |
