Classical guitar and flamenco guitar. Miles apart?
ROLAND BROUX and MICHEL GILLAIN took a leap in (mostly Spanish) history and soon discovered that in addition to the often quoted differences between both worlds, there are many resemblances that are all to often neglected.
Especially in the old Spanish vihuela-music of the “golden” 16th century, which was one of the origins of flamenco guitar, true musical gems can be discovered that are reminiscent of flamenco.
In ENCUENTRO CORDIAL both guitar players affront each other with a creative or ad-lib interpretation of original classical guitar pieces on the one hand, but also basing on pure flamenco themes. The result is an impressive sound scheme, always inspired by passion and emotion. Above that, the show is not limited to Spanish music alone, they also take musical trips to South America and Dowland.
This is how the encouter of both gentlemen – in addition to the agreable conversations and rehearsals – resulted in a hugely fascination, varied and bold show.
ENCUENTRO CORDIAL also exists in a larger-sizes version, with a swirling spectacle as a result. The cast is then reinforced with a flamenco singer,
2 female dancers, percussion and cello.
