Úrsula Moreno

Úrsula Moreno is a descendant from one of the most renown artistic families in Andalucia who brought us Antonio Molina (one of the greatest stars of Cante Flamenco in Andalucia of the 20th century) and actress Angela Molina (the Penelope Cruz of her time).
She studied dance and drama in the Conservatory for Music and Dance in Malaga. Afterwards she further developed her skills as a Flamenco dancer under the guidance of teachers such as Tona Radely, Luci Montes (Malaga), Loli Flores, Matilde Coral and Carmen Juan but also Manuel Betarzos, Antonio Canales, Carmen Cortes, La China and Adrian Galia.
She gained a lot of professional experience by endlessly touring all over the world with dance companies such as those of Conchito del Mar and Jose Luis Ponce. On top of that she gained a lot of knowledge and experience by managing her own dance studio in Switzerland. Later on she took part in the crossover production “Kathak Flamenco”, an initiative by the Benares music company.
At present she lives in her native city Malaga where she founded the Centro Cultural & Flamenco Ursula Moreno. On top of that she is also the artistic director of the Cursos Internationales de Flamenco in La Puebla de Cazalla (near Seville) and in Malaga. She combines these activities with her position as leading dancer in the Compañia Flamenca Alhama in the productions ‘Noches de Amor’ and ‘Vaya con Dios’ which premiered at the Biennale de Sevilla in 2004 and appeared a second time in 2008. At the Biennale de Sevilla in 2010 she presented her own production ‘Bailando al Cante’ (Museo de Baile Flamenco) for the very first time.
Her most recent production is called ‘Mi Carmen Flamenca’ (2013). A show with an excellent dramaturgy in which she portrays the emblematic Carmen de Mérimée. She toured all over the world with this show i.e.: Teatro Cervantes Malaga, Barcelona, Opera of Beijing, Oriental Art Center Shanghai, Konzerthaus Berlin,..
The Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO described her as “a great acquisition for the Arte Flamenco”.
Ursula Moreno will travel northwards soon for a series of performances in Northern Europe. An unmissable event for all Aficionados!
