Segundo Falcón

Segundo Falcón, also known as Niño Segundo, was born in 1970 in El Viso del Alcor (Sevilla) into a family of singers : the Janega’s. He was discovered by Antonio Mairena and started singing when he was 8 in the Peña Flamenca El Rincón del Pilare, located in his home town.

At the age of twelve, he won the prize of the Federación de Peñas of Sevilla, which made it possible for him to appear on bilboards alongside the main stars, such as Camarón, Terremoto or Fosforito. After a trajectory of festivals and competitions in Andalucia and Extremadura, he joined the flamenco company « Los Gallos de Sevilla » when he was twenty and kept working for them for quite some time.

His experience and sense of rhythm led him to take up singing accompaniment of several artists’ dancing. He followed a trajectory similar to that of his friend Enrique el Extremeño, with whom he formed the most sought-after singing duo in the 1998 Bienal de Flamenco of Sevilla.

His collaboration was more and more requested by dancing groups such as those of Juana Amaya, Christina Hoyos, Eva Yerbabuena and Manuela Carrasco. He supported the latter by accompanying her on tours through Europe and Asia.

At the same time, he has also expanded his solo carreer to the extent of a first CD coming out soon. Segundo Falcón, who took part in the opening ceremony of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, has also been busy with the singing education at the Fundación Christina Heeren in Sevilla. Since January 2002, he additionally occupies the function of president of the Centro Andaluz de Flamenco, which seats in Jerez (Cádiz). After the release of his first cd, which was presented in Madrid’s Sociedad General de Autores y Editores, he travelled through Spain and Europe to promote his work ‘Un segundo de cante’. This spectacle was first revealed to the public at the 2002 Bienal de Flamenco of Sevilla. It was his way to introduce the national press to flamenco, after having travelled the world with Eva Yerbabuena. During this entire period of festivals etc. he came up with the work « Tierra de Nadie », which had its premiere during the 2004 Bienal de Sevilla. The dialogue between Arab, Indian and Flamenco culture was a huge success at this event.
