Rocío Molina

Rocio Molina (Málaga 1984) is the youngest flamenco sensation of her home country. Even though she’s only 23, she is already touring Spain with her very own show and with her own dancing company. And that for the second time already.
Hardly anyone in the world of flamenco has succeeded in becoming such a prominent and great artist at such an early age as did Rocio Molina.

She took up her dancing studies at the age of seven in Málaga. Her mother, herself a very important name in the world of classical dancing (who among others worked some time in the Brussels Muntschouwburg) encouraged her daughter so successfully, that she soon could make a start at the Conservatorio de Danza in Madrid, where she could continue her artistic development. In 2002, she ended her dancing training and did so by obtaining a magna cum laude.

Rocio Molina’s carreer took a definite jumpstart. Dancer Maria Pagés brought her into her companie and took her along on a tour to Japan, France and Italy.
In 2004, she cooperated in a project with Carmen Cortés and Alejandro Granados. In that same year however, she went her own way and performed at flamenco festivals in London and the U.S. (New York, Philadelphia,…).

Recently, her own show “El Eterno Retorno” had its premiere at the new Biennial Festival of Málaga : “Málaga and Flamenco”. For this show, she could count on the collaboration of people like Juan Carlos Romero, Pasión Vega and Pepa Gamboa. Only rarely has an artist’s star risen as quickly as Rocio Molina’s.

It makes us all the more curious to see her at work on her first tour throughout Northern Europe. Rocio Molina is without any doubt a great future star.
